Inauguration Tour
The Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation is partnering with Watermark, the premier tour, charter, and cruise company of Annapolis, to offer a special walking tour of Annapolis for presidential inauguration guests in January. The special tour is designed to introduce the history, culture, and fun of the area to the many visitors expected in town overnight and for day trips leading up to the inauguration. Guests will be invited to stroll through celebrated historic Annapolis accompanied by a colonial-attired guide who will combine the best of Watermark’s Three Centuries Walking Tour and highlights from its African-American Tour which was developed in partnership with the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation.
Debbie Gosselin, Watermark’s President said “We know that once our inaugural visitors arrive in Annapolis, they will want to explore its roots and beautiful streets. We have customized a special offering to showcase Annapolis to the many visitors in the area for this historic event.”
This special Inaugural Celebration Tour of Historic Annapolis will feature the rich history of African-Americans in Annapolis and their impact nationally and internationally. Key historical sites, including the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial, Thurgood Marshall Memorial, and the State House, will be part of this journey. Says Judith Cabral of the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation, “We hope all visitors coming to the region for the inauguration schedule some time to visit Annapolis and take the tour. One million people a year from all over the world visit the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial. It would be a shame for anyone to miss it — we are only 40 minutes from DC.”
Watermark’s Inaugural Celebration Tour of Historic Annapolis will be offered Sunday, January 18th and Monday, January 19th at 10:00 am departing from the Vistors Center at 26 West Street, Annapolis; $16/Adults, $4/children 3-11 and free for children 2 and under.
