Foundation’s Annual Commemoration Ceremony
Join us for the annual commemorative celebration at the Annapolis City Dock on September 29, 2020. This celebration, sponsored by the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation, Inc., includes a family member of Alex Haley, along with other partners. This celebration acknowledges the arrival of Kunta Kinte to these shores as the beginning of his experiences in America.
The commemorative celebration serves as a reminder of the contributions made by Kunta Kinte and other unnamed people in bondage and people who strove to make America great. It also serves as a reminder of the unity of family as well as the commonality and humanity of all people.
The short program will include a brief overview of the Foundation and the event, with greetings, music, and motivational words of remembrance and inspiration by Chris Haley, the nephew of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Alex Haley.
To conclude, Foundation members, friends, and visitors to the Memorial will be asked to actively participate in honoring the many who came before by scattering rose petals in the harbor.
